Who is Ms. Schermerhorn?

This is my 21st year of teaching, and I've taught grades 2, 4, 5 and high school U.S. History. I am also a swim coach and a water polo coach!  I graduated from THE University of Texas at Austin in 1998 with a degree in English.  I attended UTSA and earned my post-baccalaureate teacher's certification in 1999.  I began teaching in NEISD in 2001 and moved to NISD in 2006.  I've been here ever since!

In my spare time, I can usually be found carting my three children around town or caring for one of my nine rescue animals.  I sing every Sunday with the Praise Band at my church, and perform live theatre there with our quickly-growing theatre group.  We do several productions a year, and I've been known to get my students involved.  Several have done shows with us throughout the years!  I have an obsession for photography, which turned into a side business that I adore, and as if all of that weren't enough, I LOVE to write curriculum and share my lessons with teachers around the world.  I try to find time every night to read - I love Stephen King, the Game of Thrones series, and mysteries!
